Camp Fatima and Camp Bernadette

Are you searching for summer programs that will help your children have fun and grow in faith, confidence, and friendship?

For over seventy years, children from all over the country and world have attended Camp Bernadette for girls and Camp Fatima for boys. Bernadette and Fatima are one camp with two locations in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. They are part of the Diocese of Manchester, NH and provide opportunities for children between the ages of six and fifteen years old to develop personally and grow spiritually. Families searching for meaningful summer activities choose Bernadette and Fatima for their traditional summer camp experiences within a Catholic environment. Campers spend two weeks living in cabins while enjoying the lake, competing in sporting events, conquering the ropes courses, and participating in faith formation activities and the sacraments.

Some sessions are already sold out, so register today for 2024 here: https://bfcamp.com/

If you want more information, please contact Andrew Thibault: Andrew@bfcamp.com 603-931-5500 x114.

Defend the Common Good – Help to Stop Legalization of Marijuana!

HB 1633 is a bill to legalize marijuana. The Diocese of Manchester opposes this bill because, in its view, legalizing marijuana would be harmful to the common good of New Hampshire. The principle of the common good is a cornerstone of Catholic Social Teaching and of the state and federal constitutions as well. The Diocese has submitted written and oral testimony to register its opposition to HB 1633. This bill is opposed by New Hampshire law enforcement and by advocates for young people, among many others.

The Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on HB 1633 soon and the bill will be voted on by the full Senate on May 16 or May 23. If you have not yet done so, please call or email your state senator and ask them to vote against HB 1633. To find out who your senator is, visit: www.gencourt.state.nh.us/senate/members/wml.aspx

Update on the Campaign to Stop State-Sanctioned Suicide

On Wednesday, May 1, the Senate Health and Human Services Committee voted 3-2 to recommend to the full Senate that HB 1283 be sent to Interim Study. If the full Senate adopts that motion, HB 1283 will be defeated. Thanks to Senate President Jeb Bradley, Committee Chair Regina Birdsell and Committee Vice-Chair Kevin Avard for their vote and for the eloquent and impassioned remarks each one of them made explaining their deep opposition to this bill.

The bill will be voted on by the full Senate on May 16. If you have not yet done so, please call, write or email your state senator and ask them to vote against passing HB 1283. To find out who your senator is, visit: www.gencourt.state.nh.us/senate/members/wml.aspx

Via Eucharistiae: The Way of the Eucharist - Young Adult Retreat

From June 21-23, the Daughters of Mary, Mother of Healing Love and the Benedictine Monks of Saint Anselm Abbey will lead a special Young Adult Retreat at Saint Anselm Abbey in Manchester.

The theme is, “Via Eucharistiae: the Way of the Eucharist.” The retreat will help participants encounter our Lord and so learn how to live their life of devotion to the Eucharist. By following the Way of the Eucharist, they will learn what it means to live with our Lord now as in Heaven. The Blessed Mother, the first tabernacle, understood most perfectly what it means to live this Eucharistic way. Reflections on increasing devotion to her will be included.

This event will provide opportunities for confession, individual spiritual direction, adoration, and prayer. Last year, more than 50 young adults from New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Massachusetts attended.

Register today at vitanova.org/via-eucharistiae! Financial assistance is available.

NH Monthly Couple Enrichment Circle

The N.H. Enrichment Circle is a monthly gathering of married couples who make time to nurture their relationship. Some of the couples have attended a Worldwide Marriage Encounter Experience in the past but this is not a requirement and new couples are welcome. Each gathering offers a different topic designed to foster strong, healthy married relationships and communication. Participants have a chance to collectively explore the topic and then, as a couple, share on a related question. Meetings are on the first Saturday of each month from 6:30-8PM at the Immaculate Heart Of Mary parish center in Concord, NH. Participants are asked to bring a snack to share and a writing notebook.  For more information, contact Dave and Karen Demers: (617) 448-0745 or dkd1974@aol.com.

Diocesan Archives Seek Contributions

The Diocesan Archives wants your help! We have thousands of documents and photos pertaining to the history of the Diocese of Manchester - concerning our Bishops, Priests, Parishes, Schools, and people. We have documents going back to the nineteenth century; however, the concern today is that we are not always capturing current information that will be historical data in 10, 20, or 100 years from now.

If your parish, priest, or organization is doing something memorable, please provide the archives with documents or photos of the event. Examples of recent events that have been saved include the installation of new sanctuary furniture at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, as well as the installation of a statue of our Blessed Mother in the Holy Cross Cemetery in memory of members of local Knights of Columbus Councils.

For more information, please contact Dennis Pedley at dpedley@rcbm.org or 663-0190.
